This is a facsimile reproduction of the first edition of the Dictionary of the Spanish Language published by the Real Académia Española from 1727 –1739 originally in six volumes. The work is basically lexicographic in nature explaining the origins of the word. The title page says ( translated)“ Dictionary of the Spanish Language in which is explained the true sense of its voices, its naturalness and quality with the phrases and methods of speaking, the proverbs and sayings and other convenient things for use of the language.” The book was dedicated to King Philip V who financed the work.
