Uribeño was one of five settlements in Zapata County, Texas abandoned for the construction of Falcon Dam, yet it holds the distinction of being the only town whose name was not carried to another site. It was located on porción 41, about five miles north of Old Zapata, the land granted to José Nicolás Clemente Gutiérrez de Lara in 1803 for his service in the Spanish Army.
